LAKE GEORGE — A new study of recreational trends on Lake George finds that an increasing popularity of larger boats and a surge in boat rentals has "the potential for increased pressure on Lake George and its resources" as boat marinas look to expand. Research by the LA Group of Saratoga Springs and the Siena Research Institute at Siena College found that an improved economy and cheap gas may be driving more boat usage on the lake and that "increased numbers" of boat rentals and boats with wider hulls are also forcing marinas to expand.
