Last-minute donations help Stamford food bank near its goal Kate Lombardo may have fallen well short of her Thanksgiving target this year, but she is still thankful for all the frozen turkeys that Fairfield County residents donated to help make the Thanksgiving meal better for thousands of people in need. While juggling drop-offs Wednesday morning at the Glenbrook Road warehouse and "shopping center," Lombardo, executive director of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, said her organization had been given over 10,000 turkeys, having hoped to get about 18,000 this year. Lombardo said so many hundreds of people like Siegel were dropping off turkeys Tuesday afternoon, a traffic jam formed on Glenbrook Road in front of the office and warehouse. Organizations like Person-to-Person, New Covenant House for Hospitality, Shelter for the Homeless, Pilgrim Towers for Seniors, Marshall Commons and the Salvation Army are just a few of those who depend upon the food bank for turkeys.
