Here's a look at the schedule for this weekend's Pikes Peak Ascent & Marathon, which starts in Manitou Springs. SATURDAY'S ASCENT 6:45 a.m.: Pre-race ceremony. 7 a.m.: First wave of runners start at 600 block of Manitou Avenue. 7:30 a.m.: Toll road to Pikes Peak summit opens. 9:05 a.m.: Approximate time for first male finishers. 9:25 a.m.: Approximate time for first female finishers. SUNDAY'S MARATHON 7 a.m.: First wave of runners start at 600 block of Manitou Avenue. 10:20 a.m.: Approximate time for first male finishers. 11:15 a.m.: Approximate time for first female finishers. UCF softball couldn’t dig out of an early hole, falling to 15th-seed Florida State, 5-1 on Day 2 of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Saturday at JoAnne Graf Field. Saturday’s game was the second consecutive season in which these two programs have met in the NCAA Regional, with UCF also falling short in a 5-1 loss to FSU on May 20, 2023.

Lopez sent a one-out grounder up the middle off Jorge López (1-1) through a drawn-in infield to score automatic runner Christian Bethancourt from third base, and the last-place Marlins (15-32) stretched their winning streak to a season-best four games.

One dead after car crashes into light pole in Cooper City

One person died after a vehicle struck a light pole in Cooper City late Saturday morning, officials say. The car struck a light pole in the 11800 block of Griffin Road a little after 11 a.m., according to Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane. One person died at the scene, and no one else was transported. Two cars appeared to be severely damaged at the scene Saturday afternoon while Broward Sheriff’s deputies investigated. It is unclear what caused the crash and what happened to the other car and its occupants.
