For Albert K. "Al" Shimek's family, July 28 was a special day.It was a day on which Shimek, who died on April 10, 1964 in Vietnam, got the recognition he deserves, thanks to a deteriorating grave marker, the love and curiosity of his family and the contributions of the community he called home before he became a soldier.
