Maine added only 4,700 nonfarm payroll jobs in September, leading to a slight decrease in the unemployment rate as the state and nation see a slow recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. The unemployment rate in Maine fell by 0.9 percent in September to 6.1 percent compared to 7 percent in August, the Maine Department of Labor said Tuesday.
