A total of $8,300 was awarded from the Grow-A-Tech automotive scholarship program, sponsored by the Automotive Service Association of Illinois, which includes repair industry shop owners and vendors. McHenry County College students enrolled in the automotive technology program and graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll at MCC were awarded between $350 and $1,100 each at a recent automotive open house at the college. Scholarship recipients were: • $1,100 scholarships: Justin Kucharski of Woodstock and Jonathan Starr of Cary • $850 scholarship: Jack Kulesza of Huntley • $600 scholarships: Ryan Andre of Huntley, Michael Zaprzalka of Lake in the Hills, Nathan Callahan of Crystal Lake and Joe Pierri of Lake in the Hills • $400 scholarship: Chris Nawrocki of Lake in the Hills • $350 scholarships: Brittany Gabard of McHenry, Brandon Arroyo of Lake in the Hills, Dmytro Kupryk of Crystal Lake, Christopher Fulkes of Crystal Lake, Andrew Dickow of Port Barrington, Erik Hertel of Fox River Grove and Marco Velasquez of Woodstock Grow-A-Tech sponsors are Revolution Gear & Axle, Automotive Seminars Inc., Schock’s Towing, Hunter Engineering Co., Mitchell 1, Garage Gurus, Heil and Kay Insurance Agency, Interstate Batteries, Federated Auto Parts, Douglas Automotive, NAPA, Sears Parts Direct, Mastertek Auto Repair, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper, Mevotech LP, DuraGo and BBB Industries.
