The grants, awarded by the Transportation Alternatives Program and Transportation Enhancement, will be administered by the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments and Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The new trails are expected to be 10 feet wide and add nearly four miles to the existing seven miles of trails throughout the city. City officials said the trails will enhance the quality of life by providing a safe and accessible off-road route for recreational activities such as biking, walking and running as well as transportation for everyday trips such as work, school and shopping. W Palmer Loop Trail This trail will start at the existing Soldier Creek trail network and will progress around the Tinker Air Force accident potential zone along Palmer Drive to SE 29. Rail with Trail This trail will be located along an abandoned diagonal rail right-of-way between SE 15 and Maple Drive.
