DANBURY - When Julie’s daughter was born in February, she knew the baby would need more breast milk than she could provide. [...] when she learned that her baby, who has cystic fibrosis, was intolerant of all formulas, her real difficulties began. [...] Julie reached out for help from the Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast, a Massachusetts- based nonprofit that collects breast milk from mothers who produce more than their babies consume and distributes it to mothers who can’t fulfill their babies’ needs. Julie, who lives in Litchfield County, received the first of several hundred bottles that same day, help that has been critical to maintaining her baby’s healthy weight and keeping her out of the hospital.
