Google said Friday it has made “more than a dozen technical improvements” to its artificial intelligence systems after its retooled search engine was found spitting out erroneous information.
The tech company unleashed a makeover of its search engine in mid-May that frequently provides AI-generated summaries on top of search results. Soon after, social media users began sharing screenshots of its most outlandish answers.
Google has largely defended its AI overviews feature, saying it is typically accurate and was tested extensively beforehand.
The village of Niles and representatives from the Golf Mill Shopping Center are hosting two open house sessions to discuss the mall’s planned redevelopment.
The sessions, scheduled for June 10 and 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will take place inside the mall’s Center Court at 239 Golf Mill Center, Niles.
Taylor Thomas was diagnosed with severe asthma at the age of 7.
Growing up in Long Beach, California, she needed inhalers and nebulizers and often had to miss recess.
Still, Thomas said it wasn’t until she was in her early 20s that she learned that living in an area with multiple sources of air pollution, including a freight train yard, had put her at higher risk for illness.
“We get told that this is normal,” said Thomas, co-director of East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice in Southern California.
