The electrical grid for Texas and New Mexico residents just got a little bigger. On Friday, Xcel Energy energized a 202-mile, 345-kilovolt transmission line that runs from the TUCO Substation two miles north of Abernathy in Hale County to near the Oklahoma state line. The line connects there with another line into Oklahoma built by Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company to reach to Woodward, Okla. “We have been actively building for more than a year,” Xcel spokesman Wes Reeves said.
