'Bounce house' mishap reveals shaky oversight

An accident involving a so-called "bounce castle" in Long Island, NY, over the weekend that sent 13 to the hospital illustrated the perils of the popular inflatable amusement rides.

Senh: Apparently, the regulations on these inflatable amusement rides (which includes bounce houses) are shoddy. These devices need to be setup and pinned down correctly. Beware of windy days because wind can blow them away into traffic or even to the roof of a house. Also, they can collapse under too much weight. In general, just make sure the operators set them up for you before they leave, and kids are supervised.
