Similar Stories to Obama: Protect Arctic Wildlife Refuge, No Oil Drilling On Coastal Plain on Bing News

The calving ground for the giant Porcupine Caribou Herd is on the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Range.  Oil companies and Alaska politicians want to drill there.  The Obama administration wants the plain preserved as wilderness. Ex-President George H.W. Bush, promoting drilling, once said:  “There are more caribou in Alaska than you can shake a stick at.” President Obama, in a video released Sunday, said he will call on Congress to designate as wilderness the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, where oil companies and Alaska politicians have long wanted to drill for oil.
