Stories Related to Our Opinion: Mississippi’s Employment Struggles Cling Over Time

Mississippi’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.3 percent in November from 7.6 percent in October. That statistic might be more encouraging were it not for the fact that Mississippi’s unemployment rate leads the nation. Mississippi is among the 41 states and Washington, D.C., that had drops in unemployment rates, but the national rate fell to 5.8 percent, 1.5 percentage points below Mississippi.
