Dear Amy: After our teen years, my brother and I became close.
After my mother abruptly left town to be with another man, my brother and I were left to clean up the mess, literally and figuratively.
We worked well together. A year or two later he and his family moved far away.
This weekend’s Fort Lauderdale Air Show is like last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix — just faster, louder, and you can be certain an American will win this time.
Featuring the U. S. Air Force Thunderbirds back as headliners and the debut of the Ghost Squadron, the annual air show returns on Saturday and Sunday to fill the heavens with sonic rumbles and arcing contrails as hundreds of thousands of spectators scan the sky over the beach in Fort Lauderdale.
A display of American firepower and fortitude — lots of wings, but no chickens up there — the air show is also a showcase for evolving shoreline hospitality offerings in the city.

At home, I pulled the comics sections out of all three, and read them while laying on my stomach on the floor and listening to the radio with one ear: Jack Benny, Allen’s Alley, The Bickersons, Duffy’s Tavern, The Shadow and more.
One day I discovered that one-panel comics were scattered throughout the rest of the paper.
Q: The tension around this team has been evident, and while I wouldn’t quite describe the season as joyless basketball, the personality team disorder has been on display for anyone with eyes. It’s going to be a very interesting offseason, so pass the popcorn.– Brian, Fort Lauderdale.
A: As a colleague mentioned as he compared the media sessions of Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley, it almost was a case of good cop, bad cop, where Spoelstra had mostly platitudes and Riley was more critical.

General Daily Insight for May 08, 2024
Today’s energy is basically positive, although it might seem chaotic at first. The sensual Taurus Moon conjoins erratic Uranus and indulgent Jupiter, heightening our attraction to anything that promises pleasure. We’ll probably act first and start asking questions later — after Luna shifts into brainy Gemini at 7:20 pm EDT.
