PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island’s unemployment rate dropped to 7.4 percent for October, but the state Department of Labor and Training reported Thursday that an “unprecedented decline” of jobs in the professional and business services sector contributed to the loss of 2,600 jobs in the state from September to October.
