Stories Related to Rochester Officials Approve Closing Firefighter Pension Fund

A more than 25-year-old pension fund for volunteer firefighters in the City of Rochester will soon be closed by officials. Rochester City Council approved a motion to close the account due to updated federal regulations, at a Monday, April 13 meeting. The fund was established in 1989 as a reward for longevity with the department, City Manager Jaymes Vettraino said.
