Stories Related to Safety Council Addresses Drugs In The Workplace

LIMA — A drug-free workplace policy is the industry standard now, but some are hoping businesses will expand on that policy. Michael Schoenhofer, executive director of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin Counties, and Karen Pierce, managing director of training and policy development with Working Partners, spoke to the West Central Ohio Safety Council on Tuesday about current drug trends and their impact on the workplace. About 120 people attended the meeting, which included information about the increased rate of positive drug tests in the workplace, legalized marijuana and prescription drug abuse, along with information about We Care At Work, a program to “grow a drug free workforce.” Right now, part of the approach to getting a drug free workplace is bringing businesses together, Pierce said. “Taking this on as a community I think is a new thing for this area and this state,” she said. .neFileBlock { margin-bottom: 20px; } .neFileBlock p { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } .neFileBlock .neFile { border-bottom: 1px dotted #aaa; padding-bottom: 5px; padding-top: 10px; } .neFileBlock .neCaption { font-size: 85%; } Karen Pierce talks to the West Central Ohio Safety Council about drug trends impacting the workplace. http://limaohio.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/web1_SafetyCouncil.jpgKaren Pierce talks to the West Central Ohio Safety Council about drug trends impacting the workplace.
