The last few months have been something of a roller coaster ride for Sgt. John Cain. The Savannah-Chatham police officer wound up all over social media in November after helping an injured cancer survivor finish the last leg of the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon — a positive face for law enforcement amid a testy time for the profession. Barely more than a month later, Cain was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
