Stories Related to Skyview Student Arrested After Snapchat Threat

A 16-year-old boy faces felony harassment charges after he allegedly threatening another student over Snapchat. A parent at Skyview High School sent an email to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer with a screen shot of the threat, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case. The Snapchat included a photo of at least six long guns inside a gun safe and included the text, “Don’t come to school Thursday,” at the bottom of the photo, according to the court document. The deputy worked with school administrators to find the student on Wednesday and pulled the boy from class. When interviewed by the deputy, the boy said he was “not sure what he was thinking,” and then admitted that it was “not very smart of me,” court records stated. The deputy arrested the 16-year-old boy, and he made his first appearance in Clark County Juvenile Court Thursday to face the charge. Because the threat likely made its way around social media, school officials sent an email to parents notifying them of the incident, Vancouver Public Schools Spokeswoman Pat Nuzzo said.
