TUXEDO - A Rockland County man was arrested and charged after police say he fled from a traffic stop and assaulted a trooper. State police stopped a vehicle on the Thruway around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 13, for a traffic violation, according to a news release. Chaim Surkis, the driver, fled without warning while the trooper was interviewing him and crashed, police said.
