The Nielsen Co. says Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony was seen by 16.8 million TV viewers. It beat all network competition in its time period but dipped slightly from last year's audience for the film and TV awards show....

Ricky Gervais, who has hosted the Golden Globes three times, has ruled out the possibility of returning for a fourth. He took to his blog to make the announcement saying, "I've told my agent to never let me be persuaded to do it again though. It's like a parachute jump. You can only really enjoy it in retrospect when you realise you didn't die and it was quite an amazing thing to do."

The Emmy Awards telecast on Sunday night ended the same way it did last year, with “Modern Family” and “Mad Men” being named the best comedy and drama, respectively, on television.

It may have been an overall awkward and dull-ish affair, but Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards shattered ratings records for the network.

The film academy has tapped Brett Ratner and Don Mischer (MIS'-sher) to produce next year's Academy Awards. This will be Ratner's first involvement with the Oscar show and Mischer's second: He produced and directed the 2011 Academy Awards telecast and was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the show.

"Mad Men," the sharply observed drama of a changing 1960s America, captured 19 Emmy nominations Thursday morning to lead the series pack, with the melodramatic miniseries "Mildred Pierce" starring Kate Winslet grabbing a top 21 bids.
