Thompson's swing coach: Tiger has 'lost his soul'

Michael Thompson won the Honda Classic last weekend for his first PGA Tour victory. The former University of Alabama golfer is known for his practice habits, "finding it in the dirt," as some golfers say. The crazy thing about his Honda Classic win is that he finished in last place in his previous outing. He shot a 78-80 at the Northern Trust Open to finish at plus-16.

 

Thompson claims Honda for first PGA Tour win

Michael Thompson's dream of winning his first PGA Tour event was walking up the final fairway with a big lead and very little stress. The reality was much different Sunday in the Honda Classic. He had a one-shot lead as he stood in the 18th fairway, some 240 yards from the flag with trouble in the way in the shape of large lake. The motto from his golf team at Alabama was to "finish strong," and Thompson did just that.

Webb Simpson won the United States Open for his first major title by holding off Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson in a foggy final round at The Olympic Club.
