In an attempt for a much-needed ratings boost, NBC has essentially declared this Justin Timberlake Week — not only did the singer host “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend, but he will make history by appearing on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” every single day this week.

NBC, usually protective about the process of putting together Saturday Night Live, allowed access to the show’s writers, stars and rehearsals this week as they prepared their debate sketch.

Melissa McCarthy’s hot streak continues as the new “It” girl helped Saturday Night Live beat the second-week slump. Last night’s edition of NBC’s late-night show, hosted by McCarthy with musical guest Lady Antebellum, drew a 5.2 rating/13 share in metered-market households.

Netflix and NBC Universal have struck a deal to load the streaming video site with tons of content from both NBC and its family of cable networks, including all 35 seasons of Saturday Night Live, and new episodes of the sketch comedy show the day after air.Saturday Night Live just aired its season premiere last night, but were not seeing the episode on Netflix. Apparently the deal hasnt been executed just yet.The day-after premiere episodes will continue through 2012, but neither Netflix nor NBC specified how long the other content deals will last.

EW.com has learned that Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation") will host "Saturday Night Live" when the late-night comedy show returns to NBC on September 25.
