Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is developing a digital newspaper exclusively for the iPad and other electronic tablet devices, according to the Women's Wear Daily website.

Apple is reportedly working on a slimmer version for 2011, and one that would be able to run on any of the Big Four wireless carriers' network in the United States, as well as on other networks around the world.

Apple dominated the global market for tablets in the third quarter amid limited competition for its iPad, a situation that is likely to change as more devices come to market.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab, one of the first tablets to rival Apple's iPad, will hit Verizon Wireless stores Nov. 11 and cost $599.99.

AT&T (T) said today it will sell the Apple (AAPL) iPad directly to business customers.

Verizon Wireless will begin selling Apple's iPad at its 2,000 retail stores nationwide on Oct. 28, the companies announced Thursday.

New numbers show Apple moving 4.5 million iPads per quarter, making it the fastest selling gadget ever.

The retail giant will offer all six models of the iPad and will roll out the tablet devices to over 2,300 stores by mid-November.

“For the holidays, the tablets will be mostly Android-based, plus the iPad,” said Mike Vitelli, Best Buy’s President of North and South American business, in an interview.

Apple is said to be making a 7-inch version of its iPad tablet computer.
