An 8-foot-tall cross that stood as a war memorial in Mojave National Preserve and which prompted a U.S. Supreme Court dispute was reported stolen Monday morning.

The Supreme Court has ruled that a white cross, erected as a war memorial and placed on national parkland in the California desert, does not violate the constitutional separation of church and state.
