The crowd at Gordyville USA reached 750 on Tuesday — up 150 from the event's first year at the venue last spring.

GIFFORD — Tickets for Tuesday night's Kickin' Cancer Dinner & Auction were approaching sellout status in January, with fewer than 50 available.
The increased demand prompted the addition of more tickets for the Coaches vs. Cancer event at Gordyville.

Urbana fire Chief Chuck Lauss said a fuel-oil tank in the basement of a business in the 800 block of South Sixth Street, Champaign, had leaked into a floor drain believed to tie in to the storm sewer.

CHAMPAIGN — Fire officials have determined that a leak in an old fuel-oil tank in the basement of a Campustown business was the source of a fuel spill into the Boneyard Creek.

 

Champaign man gets probation for drugs found in ceiling of home

Lawrence McMillion, 53, had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver heroin. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a similar charge related to cocaine that was also found.

URBANA — A Champaign man has been sentenced to three years of probation after a search of his home two years ago turned up suspected heroin and cocaine in the ceiling.
