TUPELO – Five-year-old Azie Leathers spent some time with her favorite Disney characters Wednesday morning at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School.

Johnson shines as Ole Miss completes sweep of ULM

OXFORD – Senior right-hander Sean Johnson threw six no-hit innings, and Ole Miss held off Louisiana-Monroe to win 5-3 before a sparse gathering at Swayze Field Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson, a one-time SEC starter who has battled injuries since transferring from Iowa Western Community College, left the game after allowing a leadoff hit in the seventh.
Ole Miss (29-17) completes the two-game sweep after winning Tuesday’s seven-inning game 21-7. The Rebels are back on the SEC road at Florida this weekend.

 

Cannizaro previews Texas A&M series

No. 11 Mississippi State enters the weekend locked into a three-way tie for first place in the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs will attempt to maintain their top tier status at 15th-ranked Texas A&M starting Thursday. MSU coach Andy Cannizaro comments on the series, changes the pitching rotation and shares an injury update on second baseman Hunter Stovall.
