CASTLEWOOD — J.I. Burton quarterback Houston Thacker etched another career night into the books. The senior completed 14 of 21 passes for 236 yards and five touchdowns Friday to lead the Raiders to a 40-6 win over Castlewood in Cumberland District football action at White Stadium. The five touchdowns in a single game marked a career high for Thacker, who had four earlier this season against Lee. FIRST-HALF SPUTTERS Thacker and his teammates struck early with touchdowns on their first two possessions: a 34-yard pass to Esau Teasley and a 9-yarder to Derrick Allen. After that, however, Castlewood’s defense stepped up and thwarted the Raiders for the remainder of the half. “We’re not at all satisfied with our performance in the first half,” said Burton coach Jim Adams.
