Stories Related to Update: Most Power Back On Downtown After Underground Fire

Staff reports Many of the customers who lost power after an underground fire in downtown Charleston on Thursday evening had power back in the pre-dawn hours on Friday.According to Appalachian Power's website, just 107 customers in Charleston remained without power as of 6:15 a.m. Friday. Appalachian Power workers on Virginia Street said the remaining power outages were largely confined to four buildings near the Virginia Street end of the South Side Bridge, including the Charleston Newspapers building.
