New building for Pacific Northwest National Lab campus RICHLAND — The federal government’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will build a new $90 million energy sciences research building on its Richland campus.
A contract to design and construct the building has been awarded to a Houston-based team of Harvey Cleary Builders and Kirksey Architecture.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian counterintelligence investigators have foiled a Russian plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other top military and political figures, Ukraine’s state security service said Tuesday.
Two colonels in the State Guard of Ukraine, which protects top officials, were detained on suspicion of enacting the plan drawn up by Russia’s Federal Security Service, a statement said.
Broward prosecutors dropped charges on Monday against a Fort Lauderdale man who was accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal accident on Sunrise Boulevard two years ago.
Bryan Robert, 33, was not in court to hear the formal announcement, but his lawyer, Robert Buschel, broke the news during a phone call last Friday.

If Fort Lauderdale, or any city, doesn’t want unhoused people sleeping in the streets, the best way to address that is to provide shelter space in the short term and affordable housing in the long term.
The federal courts have correctly held that jailing people who have no choice but to sleep outside is cruel.
