Refractor telescopes
It’s easy to look at different telescopes and assume that they all work in the same way. While that is partly true, the mechanics on the inside is what matters the most.
For example, it is almost impossible to tell a refractor telescope from a reflector telescope by simply looking at the tube, yet the two kinds of telescopes use different components to bring the night sky into view.
Different types of telescopes
How a refractor is different from other telescopes
Typically, there are three types of telescopes that budding astronomers use, with a refractor telescope the preferred for beginner or amateur viewers.
They were the first kind of telescope developed, and their history goes as far back as the 1600s.
In its recent editorial on Florida’s education choice scholarships, the Sun Sentinel frets that there is “no state oversight of private schools,” “no way to know how the public money is spent” and that the schools are “answering to no one.”
The charges ignore the many state accountability measures that have been in place for years for private schools that accept scholarships.
Which camping cots are best?
Camping doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable experience with the right gear. Even a simple camping cot can help you get a good night’s sleep, waking up refreshed for breakfast around the camping stove and a day of outdoor activities.
Consider factors such as the size and weight of the cot and how far you’ll have to carry it.
8212; The Supreme Court on Tuesday left in place lawyer Michael Avenatti’s conviction for plotting to extort up to $25 million from Nike.
The justices did not comment in rejecting an appeal from Avenatti, who rose to fame representing porn actor Stormy Daniels in litigation against former President Donald Trump. The timing of the court’s action, while Trump is on trial in New York over a hush money payment to Daniels, is coincidental.
Avenatti’s involvement with Nike stems from a whistleblower’s allegations that the athletic footwear and clothing company was paying amateur basketball players.
Avenatti’s lawyers argued that the fraud statute under which he was convicted is unconstitutionally vague.
MIAMI — For the 28 teams not involved, the NBA Finals not only can’t get here fast enough, they can’t be over fast enough.
With the Boston Celtics locked into the championship series with their Eastern Conference finals sweep of the Indiana Pacers, and with the Dallas Mavericks entering Tuesday poised to advance from the West, the NBA still won’t be starting its championship series until June 6.
But that best-of-seven series then could be over as soon as June 14, which would suit the rest of the NBA world — including the Miami Heat — just fine.
Because of a new wrinkle in the league’s new collective-bargaining agreement, teams, for the first time, will be afforded a headstart when it comes to exclusively negotiating with their own free agents.
Previously, whether it was a team’s own impending free agents or ones from another team, it was hands off until 6 p.m.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis apologized Tuesday after he was quoted using a vulgar and derogatory term about gay men to reaffirm the Catholic Church’s ban on gay priests.
Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni issued a statement acknowledging the media storm that erupted about Francis’ comments, which were delivered behind closed doors to Italian bishops on May 20.
Italian media on Monday had quoted unnamed Italian bishops in reporting that Francis jokingly used the term “faggotness” while speaking in Italian during the encounter.
