A 22-year-old woman died Monday afternoon, hours after she survived a two-vehicle crash in El Paso County, the Colorado State Patrol announced. Celena Gonzales, of Colorado Springs, succumbed to her injuries at St. Francis Medical Center about 2:15 p.m. Just before 7 a.m., Gonzalez was northbound in a Ford Focus on Akers Drive but, just past a stop sign at North Carefree Circle, she drove into the path of a Dodge Dakota traveling east on Carefree, the State Patrol said.
