12 Afghans Killed In Errant Rocket Strike As U.s. Offensive Continues

The deaths are the first civilian casualties since the start of the attack on the Taliban stronghold of Marja. NATO says it is suspending use of the weapons system used in the deadly strike. Reporting from The Outskirts Of Marja, Afghanistan, and Kabul -- As U.S. Marines battled Sunday to consolidate their hold on the southern Afghanistan town of Marja, Western commanders reported the first serious setback of the 2-day-old offensive: the deaths of a dozen Afghan civilians in an errant rocket strike.
