A 17-year-old Marine recruit from Pittsburg died Tuesday after collapsing during a training exercise in Brentwood, police said. Floyd Burrell Jr. fell unconscious while training with other recruits in Veteran’s Park, according to the Brentwood Police Department. A city employee performed CPR on Floyd, but he was unresponsive when police arrived around 5:50 p.m., the department said in a statement. “Burrell was associated with the Marine Corps Recruiting Office located at 3181 Balfour Road,” the statement said.
