$290m Maintenance Backlog Targeted By Huntsville Schools

A capital plan unveiled during last week's Huntsville School Board work session aims to tackle a $290 million maintenance backlog that built up while the board was spending money to build new schools. According to the Huntsville Times, Superintendent Casey Wardynski also hopes to move the system's central office into Butler High School and close down the Center for Technology as he brings a halt to nearly all new construction. Wardynski and John Brown, the district's head of maintenance and construction, gave the board a capital plan that will increase the money spent on renovations by more than $155 million over the next six years.
