2c Roadwork Begins In Colorado Springs With Over $10 Million Collected In 2016

Improvements are underway on many Colorado Springs roads, officials say, but there's been little paving so far this year. That soon will change. For example, concrete work began in January on Paseo Road in Palmer Park. Paving began Tuesday. With money accumulating from Measure 2c, a sales tax increase approved in November, expect to see more road crews at work in coming weeks. The city has collected about $10.2 million on sales from the first three months of 2016, but has spent only about $29,000. The 2016 budget for 2C projects is about $44.8 million, $22.7 million of which is allocated to overlay, $17.7 million to concrete work and $4.4 million to program staff and overhead.
