Three 17-year-old boys are facing misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges in connection with an incident that resulted in a soft lockdown of several Huntley School District 158 schools Friday. Lake in the Hills police communications coordinator Ashley Eccles said officers responded about 2:40 p.m. Friday after a report of a group of teenagers carrying what appeared to be firearms in the northwest portion of District 158's Reed Road campus, which includes Early Childhood Center, Chesak Elementary School, Martin Elementary School and Marlowe Middle School. As a precaution, the three schools were placed on a soft lockdown for about 10 minutes so officials could get the situation under control and ensure the safety of the facilities. Although District 158 schools were closed because of a professional institute day, Eccles said some staff members and 18 student-athletes were on the grounds. Police ultimately determined that the individuals were carrying BB guns and were shooting at soda cans and other objects, according to a news release District 158 Assistant Superintendent Jessica Lombard posted on the district's website Friday. Police also determined there was no threat of danger to those in the area, according to the release.
