MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) — Officials say the $45 million museum being built in Meridian will open in 2017 as the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Experience. The Meridian Star reports (http://bit.ly/1OfXVLj ) that ground was broken Saturday for the 58,500-square-foot museum. The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/1PdpYKL ) reports that it's another step in Mississippi's effort to strengthen cultural tourism and inspire a new generation of top artists. Congressman Gregg Harper said it's a chance to show people around the world Mississippi's influence on the all of the arts. Officials say it will feature Mississippi artists in film, literature, music, arts, dance, theater and visual arts. It's designed by the Washington firm that designed the National World War II Museum in New Orleans and the Grammy Awards Museum in Los Angeles.Read more on NewsOK.com
