Following a day of rain, heavy winds picked up in the afternoon, and the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the entire Bay Area for the rest of the night. Officer Andrew Barclay, a spokesman for the CHP’s Marin division, said his office hadn’t seen any major accidents Wednesday, despite the wet and windy weather that made for driving tricky. Forecasters cautioned that the winds were strong enough to down trees — as the Bay Area was still recovering from the last batch of storms that ripped down hundreds of trees, including the famous Pioneer Cabin Tree that stood for some 2,000 years in In the North Bay, Muir Woods National Monument was closed for the third time in two weeks as a safety precaution after several of its massive redwoods toppled during last week’s heavy rain — including the famous Pioneer Cabin Tree that had stood for some 2,000 years in Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Calaveras County.
