A 7-year-old Georgetown, California boy was shot in the chest as he fired a .22-caliber “youth rifle” at his family’s homemade firing range on Saturday. KCRA Channel 3 reported that the El Dorado County boy was shooting at targets with his father when a bullet ricocheted and struck his upper body. A press release from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department said that he grabbed his chest in pain, which was when his father noticed a hole in the boy’s shirt and that he was bleeding from the chest. A medical team airlifted the boy to UC Davis Medical Center.
