Grand Funk Railroad is a hard rock band from Flint, Michigan, formed in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Mark Farner and drummer Don Brewer. They were joined by bassist Mel Schacher, formerly of ? and the Mysterians. The band quickly gained popularity and in 1972 they were joined by keyboardist Craig Frost. After a lawsuit with former manager Terry Knight, the band shortened their name to Grand Funk and continued recording until 1976.
