Originally thought to be a condition exclusive to German Shepherd Dogs (GSD), DM is now believed to affect other breeds, such as Weimaraners, Belgian Shepherds, Old English Sheep Dogs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and Great Pyraneeans amongst others.
