Topics: Conditions and Diseases : Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a disease that causes the body to make thick, sticky mucus. The lungs, stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas can all be affected. When this sticky mucus clogs an organ, bacteria can grow and cause infections. When CF affects the lungs, it creates breathing problems; in the intestines or pancreas, CF makes it hard to digest food.
