Advanced Method Behind Georgia St. Project

An advanced pipe installation technique is behind a South Georgia Street project that should be approaching its end. By using a method called microtunneling, 2,600 feet of pipe with a diameter of 42 inches would be laid under South Georgia Street from Wolflin Avenue to Southwest 26th Avenue, Senior Project Coordinator David Mullins said. In April, Spiess Construction went to work on the $4.9 million project, the bulk of which the Texas Water Development Board funded with a low-interest loan, Amarillo Globe-News files show. read more
