KABUL — More than a week after ballots were cast in Afghanistan’s presidential election, officials are still tabulating the results, but Abdullah Abdullah now has an 11-point lead over Ashraf Ghani. On Sunday, the Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the result for 40 percent of the ballots. The updated figures show Abdullah, a former foreign minister, leading with 44.4 percent of the vote compared to 33 percent for Ghani, a former finance minister.
