CEDAR RAPIDS — When Village Cooperative opened in Cedar Rapids this past Friday, the senior housing community had sold all but one of its 65 units. But this isn’t your grandmother’s retirement home. The amenities the property boasts include heated garages, carwash, pub, community room and suites for relatives to stay in.“A lot of people 55 and older want to get out of their house because they don’t want to deal with the maintenance,” said Penny Shedek, sales manager for the Cedar Rapids property.
