An intergovernmental agreement between the Algonquin Township supervisor’s office and the highway department still is in the works weeks after the absence of one caused turmoil among officials – but Supervisor Charles Lutzow is hopeful an agreement soon will be finalized. “We’re optimistic the board will approve it at the [October] meeting,” Lutzow said, “presuming we’ll get the language figured out.” The IGA now is being negotiated between township attorney Jim Kelly and highway department attorney Robert Hanlon, Lutzow said. The agreement asks the highway department to pay rent, split the costs of recycling and bus services with the township and continue duties around the property, including snow removal and bingo setup.
