By Josh Mitchell Corinth Today CORINTH – Getting a technological device in the hands of every student is a big goal for the Alcorn School District. It is called the One-to-One Initiative and has been implemented at other school districts, officials say. “Kids learn better with technology in their hands,” Alcorn School District Superintendent Larry Mitchell said after a school board work session on Monday night. Under One-to-One, every student would have a device such as an iPad, Chromebook or tablet. During the work session, Mitchell said, “The thing that I would say about technology is obviously we are behind in this district.” Getting the school district to a One-to-One level must be a goal for the district, Mitchell said. “We’re not going to do it sticking our heads in the sand and saying we don’t have a problem,” Mitchell said. But Rose Seaborn, the district’s technology director, said some other issues must be addressed before the full district can get to a One-to-One level. “In order to go One-to-One we really need to improve our infrastructure,” Seaborn said.
