This week in Latin America mother nature took a turn for the worse as the Calbuco volcano erupted after almost 5 decades of inactivity. It billowed a huge ash cloud over a sparsely populated, mountainous area in southern Chile. Authorities ordered the evacuation of the inhabitants of nearby communities. The head of the national mining and geology service said the volcano's eruptive process could last weeks or even months.
