By MELISSA TRUJILLO A person with knowledge of the case against Henry Louis Gates Jr. say the police who arrested the prominent Harvard University black scholar at his home after a reported break-in have recommended that the charge against him be dropped.The person spoke only on condition of anonymity because Cambridge police are expected to announce their decision later Tuesday.Supporters say Gates was the victim of racial profiling.Police responded to the home Gates rents from Harvard after a woman reported seeing two black men trying to force open the front door.
